WoolWax™ is a lanolin based, solvent free corrosion inhibitor designed for use on any known metal, but most often used on the undercarriages of vehicles. Their lanolin is blended with other proprietary agents to provide long term corrosion protection against salt, liquid calcium chloride, brine, and all other ice control agents that are being used on our roadways. WoolWax™ contains much more raw woolgrease (lanolin) than competitive products, making it thicker and much more resistant to wash off. It's unique properties provide a longer period of protection for exposed undercarriage areas. WoolWax™ leaves a soft, grease-like, self-healing film that doesn't dry out and will continue to penetrate metals to the base. WoolWax™ is not a rust remover or converter, however it can be applied over existing surface rust and will form a heavy film and prevent moisture and oxygen from reaching the existing rust, thereby stopping it on contact.
Woolwax™ can be applied over any existing surface rust and will stop the rust from worsening by creating a film barrier that will prevent moisture and oxygen from getting to the base metal. WoolWax™ is not a rust converter or remover. It is never too late to have an undercoating service applied to your vehicle.
While driving habits may vary, Defender Undercoating recommends application every two years in order to maintain adequate protection.
You will want to avoid any high pressure undercarriage washing services. Although services like that will not wash off you new undercoating service they will weaken it, especially right after being treated. It is especially important to avoid undercarriage washes in the winter times, as many wash stations recycle the water and it takes months to dilute the chemicals used on the roads. You essentially wash your vehicle in the salty runoff water from the vehicles washed before yours.
